Effective Network Data Backup
Effective backup of network data begins with planning and continues with consistent execution and regular testing.
Planning: Studies indicate that a significant portion of corporate data is not included in regular backups. Effective planning will minimize the amount of data missed in backups and the consequences of missed data being irretrievably lost.
Consistent Execution: Data backup reports should be audited consistently, and error messages should be investigated and resolved. Did the backup fail or was the error message due to a minor error like a document being left open?
Regular Testing: Regular testing of the ability to restore data is required, especially if tapes are used as the backup media.
As a part of our Managed IT Services for small businesses, ATC provides assistance with data backup strategies, with the execution and auditing of backups, and with the testing of our clients’ ability to restore critical data.
